Removing the weeds

Early 2025 has been exceptionally rainy in Soria. The hills are green like never before. This also helps the weeds grow. Using a small tractor, gently steering around the vines they are uprooted.

No wine in 2024

Due to frost damage early 2024 there were very little grapes produced in 2024 and quality was lower. We decided not to make wine in 2024.

On the photo from early may 2024 you see the vine sprouting a new shoot after the frost.

The volume is very low this year with some rows having almost no fruit due to frost damage in late spring

2023 progress

Frost damage early 2023 has severely reduced the amount of fruit on the vines. Some vines have nice bunches, but a lot of the vines don’t have any fruit at all. The maturity also varies greatly between bunches of grapes.

Marcottage or layering

Over the Christmas period some missing vines have been replaced by layering also known as marcottage.

This allows the ancient vineyards to remain viable by filling the gaps in a row when an old vine dies by growing a branch from a neighbouring vine into a new plant.
